I'm Jacquie and welcome to Elm Counselling.

I'm a BACP registered Integrative Counsellor working with children, young people and adults.

The name 'Elm' describes my approach: Empathic, Listening and Mindful. It also reflects my love of trees, which offer a fitting metaphor for counselling: Through talking to someone who is validating and accepting of our experiences, without judgement and with empathy, we feel safe to explore new ways of being / new growth as well as exploring any underlying 'root' issues if relevant.

In native mythology, Elm trees were also said to represent the cycles of birth and death, as well as balance heart and mind which, again, is reflective of the reasons many people seek counselling.

Talking to someone who is trained to listen can be helpful when feelings of worry, loneliness or fear etc are too much to hold alone.  I offer a wholly accepting and validating space for you to explore issues at your own pace.

Feedback I've received has shown counselling to have helped clients in the following ways:

          • Regain a sense of purpose
          • Feel more like themselves
          • Off-load their worries
          • Improve their resilience & strategies for self-care
          • Feel more sure of themselves and their decisions
          • Manage better
          • Feel less lonely
          • Unblock creativity
          • Feel more confident and sure of themselves
          • Feel less lonely

I look forward to hearing from you if you'd like to get in touch. Please see my contacts page for further information.
